A small team. A human idea.

Make room for
good conversation.

We’re building Hanashi for the moment when two people discover they have something to talk about. Language learning is one beginning. Human connection is the reason to come back.

Early, deliberately.

Hanashi is an early-stage product in a controlled pilot. There is plenty to figure out, and the details matter: how a first hello feels, how reliably a call works, how we protect a private conversation.

We’re interested in people who take ownership, communicate clearly and care about the people on the other side of the screen.

Ways you could contribute

Exploratory expressions of interest

These are areas we may need help with, not confirmed vacancies. There are no guaranteed positions. Scope, location, working arrangements and compensation would be discussed before any commitment.

Founder’s Associate — Operations / Strategy

Help turn a small pilot into a dependable daily operation: organise decisions, learn from users, improve workflows and follow through on the details.

You enjoy ambiguous problems, careful judgement and making things happen without a large playbook.

Founding Full-stack Engineer

Build the parts that make conversations feel effortless, from accessible interfaces to reliable real-time systems and honest financial accounting.

You care about the whole experience and are comfortable tracing a problem from a browser to a database.

Japanese Community & Sensei Growth

Meet interesting Japanese speakers, help them feel at home on Hanashi and shape a community where people want to return.

You understand Japanese communities, listen closely and prefer thoughtful relationships to growth at any cost.

Product / Design Engineer

Find the right words, interactions and visual details for a product about people. Prototype, build and refine with real users.

You move fluently between design and code and know that polish includes speed, accessibility and clarity.

Marketing / Community Intern

Help tell the story of Hanashi, test small community ideas and learn which messages bring the right people into conversation.

You are curious, organised and eager to learn through useful, practical work. Any internship structure would be agreed separately.

Start with a note

Tell us what
you care about.

No elaborate cover letter. A little about you, your work and why this idea interests you is enough. Please do not send IDs, sensitive personal information or confidential work.

Hanashi uses this note only to consider possible work together and contact you about it. The founder has access; no public posting or marketing use. We remove your contact details, note and optional resume after 90 days, or earlier when you use your private removal receipt. They are stored privately in our existing Cloudflare database, without an external recruitment platform. Privacy
